I grew up in the small and unbelievably rainy town of Sitka, Alaska. My upbringing encouraged a desire for adventure in any condition, whether it was hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, or any other form of outdoor activity. At 17, I got a job on a 32-foot gillnetter in Bristol Bay and learned the true meaning of work, discomfort, and perseverance.

The money I made fishing in the summers helped me pay my way through college at MSU; however, I promptly dropped out when I was offered the job as media producer for Huntin’ Fool. I had a small filming business at the time and was honing my skill as an outdoor videographer. Filming backcountry hunts seemed like an obvious fit. I moved down to Utah to begin creating hunt films that would compete with some of the best hunting films on YouTube at the time.

Through all of my days in the field filming some of the most exciting and grueling hunts across the western U.S., I learned some valuable lessons about preparation on the mountain. Many of those lessons were learned the hard way, but now, my position has expanded towards creating honest and thoughtful gear comparisons in an effort to help other hunters purchase the right gear for their upcoming adventure.
