ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter is a full-time, family-run operation with decades of experience in hunting, summer pack trips, and trout fishing. Based in southeastern Wyoming, most hunts take place on private land either owned or exclusively leased by the outfitter. They are also permitted to guide on National Forest, BLM, and State of Wyoming lands, offering a variety of terrain and opportunities for a quality Western hunting experience.
HUNT DETAILS:
This HFA-Endorsed Outfitter offers one of the premier Shiras moose hunts in the country, set in some of Wyoming’s finest moose habitat. The area features high moose densities, limited tags, and excellent trophy quality. Moose harvested on these hunts are typically Boone & Crockett caliber, with antler spreads ranging from 45 to 55 inches, showcasing impressive front points and substantial mass.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodations are comfortable and well-suited for a quality Western hunting experience. Most hunts include lodging in a ranch house, lodge, or modern cabin located on or near the hunting property. These accommodations provide a warm, clean place to relax after long days in the field, along with home-cooked meals and a welcoming, family-style atmosphere.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
In Wyoming, obtaining a Shiras moose tag is most commonly done through the state’s limited-entry draw system. These tags are highly sought after and considered once-in-a-lifetime opportunities—especially for non-residents, who receive only a small percentage of the total tags available.
Wyoming uses a preference point system, and most successful applicants have built up 20 or more points, though a small portion of tags are awarded randomly each year. The application period typically opens in early January and closes by March 1. Draw results are released in early May.
Huntin’ Fool can assist with the application process, helping you identify the best units based on your goals, current point level, and tag availability. With careful planning and the right strategy, drawing a Wyoming Shiras moose tag can lead to one of the most memorable big game hunts in the West.
