Description
Western Colorado offers one of the richest big game environments in North America, with robust populations of both elk and mule deer, making this specific opportunity one of very high demand. This region is renowned for its rugged landscapes, thriving wildlife populations, and unforgettable hunting experiences. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter, older in your years and physical capabilities, or new to the game, this combo hunt offers the perfect balance of challenge, excitement, and reward. Custom hunts can be arranged for hunters with mobility issues or disabilities to combo hunts, they work with each client every step of the way to ensure everyone has the expected experience. Rifle season offers the highest success rates, while archery and muzzleloader seasons provide more challenging, close-range encounters.
This lodge-based fully outfitted and guided Elk and Mule Deer combo hunt is located in the heart of Western Colorado. This experience is in a category of its own, with trophy class hunting, combined with some of the nicest accommodations any hunting operation provides. You will have access to the breathtaking terrain of Western Colorado, and the hunting grounds stretch across vast high-elevation forests, open meadows, and mountain slopes. The area is home to healthy herds of Rocky Mountain elk and impressive mule deer bucks, providing ample opportunities to harvest trophy-class animals. The diverse landscape of aspen groves, oak brush, and alpine ridges offers not only incredible hunting but also some of the most picturesque views in the West.
For elk you will hunt in the higher country, where you’ll glass and navigate by vehicle or Polaris Rangers, or on foot through timbered ridges, open parks and draws. Depending on the season, you might experience the thrilling bugle of rutting bulls echoing through the mountains as well. You'll see bulls ranging from 200” to 350”+ in size! Their well-seasoned guides can accommodate all hunter needs and styles, guiding archery, muzzleloader and rifle elk hunts.
For the mule deer, you will be able to hunt them the same way as elk, with plenty of glassing across open ridges and valleys. You will see mule deer ranging in size from 150” to 190” — and even larger. To maintain a quality deer population, they offer limited guided deer hunts each year. For their archery mule deer hunts, the first 10 days of September is the better timeframe. During these hunts, 180" and larger bucks are the target and goal. Each day will provide opportunities to hunt and stalk 180" or better bucks. With your guides, you will develop a strategic plan to maximize your chances of tagging both species during your trip, adjusting tactics based on animal movement, weather, and terrain. To date, the opportunity ratio for both elk and mule deer is 100%. The hunt includes expert guides with extensive knowledge of local game patterns, terrain, and hunting strategies that will lead you through every step. They’ll help with tracking, spotting, and ensuring a successful harvest.
When it comes to accommodations, your stay will be in a comfortable and beautiful lodge, equipped with modern amenities, including a full kitchen, spacious bedrooms with stacked double beds, full baths, and an overall authentic outdoor atmosphere. Other amenities are also available within walking distance from the lodge that are equipped with different bedroom options for couples, extra tall individuals, the occasional world record snoring champion, etc.
All transportation within the hunting area is provided, whether by 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, or on foot, depending on the terrain and conditions. Field dressing, meat care, and packing out your harvest are also included. Hearty, home-cooked meals are provided daily, with breakfast before dawn, lunch at the lodge, and dinner to cap off the day. And don't forget homemade desserts.
