HUNT DETAILS:
Whether you're glassing for free-range scimitar horned oryx or stalking a record-book mouflon ram on a managed estate, this outfitter offers something truly special for the serious hunter. It's a place where wild tradition meets world-class opportunity—right in the heart of brush country. This is a one-of-a-kind hunting experience rooted in rugged brush country, warm hospitality, and exceptional game diversity. Whether you're chasing free-range trophies or on managed estates, this region stands out as a top-tier hunting destination.

This outfitter's fair chase / free range exotic hunting is as good as it gets. South Texas is legendary for its free-range whitetail deer, known for their dense, chocolate-colored antlers and adaptability in thick mesquite and cactus-filled terrain. But it doesn’t stop at whitetail. Axis deer, scimitar oryx, blackbuck antelope, aoudad, and nilgai can be found roaming vast ranch-lands, offering a true fair-chase challenge. Hunters also frequently encounter javelina, wild hogs, and turkey, adding even more variety to a multi-species hunt.

High-fence ranches in South Texas open the door to a world-class hunting experience, offering access to a thoughtfully managed selection of exotic species from across the globe. None of the ranches that this outfitter has and/or hunts are a "put and take" situation. The animals are born on the ranches and the hunting is very good. These operations are typically set on thousands of acres, providing a natural yet controlled environment that supports sustainable game management, superior genetics, and consistent trophy quality. Hunters can expect year-round opportunities thanks to Texas’s liberal exotic hunting regulations, making it easy to plan around busy schedules or seasonal preferences. Many ranches also host less common exotics such as, sika deer, addax, and the majestic scimitar-horned oryx, along with many others.

These hunts offer an exciting spot-and-stalk adventure, designed for those who thrive on the thrill of the chase. Much of the time will be spent covering ground by vehicle, glassing wide-open terrain in search of the ideal trophy. Once a target animal is located, the guide will carefully develop a strategy based on wind direction and terrain features, setting the stage for a challenging and rewarding stalk on foot.

Hunters should come prepared with comfortable, durable boots and be ready to take shots using shooting sticks. Practicing with sticks before the hunt is highly recommended, as it can make a significant difference in confidence and accuracy when the moment of truth arrives. This dynamic hunting style offers not just a harvest—but an unforgettable pursuit.

With seasoned guides leading the way, every hunt is carefully tailored to create an unforgettable experience. Animals must meet specific maturity and scoring standards before harvest, as approved by the guide. However, there is no obligation to take a shot—the focus is always on quality, ethical hunting, and ensuring each guest walks away with lasting memories. The ultimate goal is to deliver such a high level of satisfaction that hunters return season after season.

Each Axis Deer hunt includes 3 nights of lodging and up to 5 guided hunts (3 mornings and 2 afternoons). Extended days can be arranged also. Arrival is scheduled for early afternoon, with time before sunset to sight in rifles at the on-site range. Hunts begin the following morning, continuing through the next two days, and concluding on the final morning if needed to secure your trophy. All Axis hunts follow a spot and stalk approach. Guides are seasoned professionals who prioritize a memorable experience and client satisfaction above all else. Animals must meet trophy criteria—specifically, a minimum age of 5 years and within the appropriate B&C scoring range. However, there is no obligation to harvest; the focus remains on quality and respect for the hunt.

Expect a spot and stalk format, covering ground by vehicle to glass for potential trophies. Once an animal is identified, the guide will formulate a plan based on wind and terrain to approach on foot. Good boots and proficiency with shooting sticks are essential. (Practicing with sticks prior to arrival is highly recommended.)

Depending on the season, hunts may be conducted from deer blinds or by rattling in bucks from the ground during the rut. All hunts are led by experienced guides who are dedicated to creating a truly memorable experience. Before any harvest, guides will confirm that the deer meets established trophy standards, including a minimum age of 5 years and alignment with the appropriate B&C score range. That said, there is no obligation to take a shot—the emphasis is always on hunter satisfaction and ethical, high-quality hunting.
