Description
This area of Idaho has a great elk population and excellent hunting. The preferred hunting method for the outfitter is during the archery season. They like to hunt the transition terrain from feeding to bedding areas early in the morning and the evenings. Guides will stage set up sequences with calling to draw in the elk for a shot. Another method is glassing to find elk on slower rutting days and planning a stalk. The bulls in this area range from 260-350+.
This can be a physically demanding hunt, especially when they get back into more secluded areas. This is the west and hunting can be tough at times. Most shots are going to be 30-50+ yards. The more efficient and confident you are at shooting will increase shot opportunities. The area is moderate to steep with heavy east facing timber pockets, mixed with open sage and aspen trees on west slopes.
Camps are out of a large wall tent with a full time cook. Hunters stay in comfortable canvas tents with cots, bedding, and most camp amenities. This is a great hunt for rutting bulls and a western rocky mountain experience.
The guides for these hunts are seasoned elk hunters that have hunted with archery, muzzleloader, and rifle equipment their entire lives. They have experienced countless successful personal hunts, as well as hunts with clients. You can rest assured that you will maximize your time in the field making every minute count.
Hunts include lodging, meals, guide, and transportation during the hunt.
