ABOUT OUTFITTER
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter has over 22 years of experience, this lifelong Alaskan was born and raised in Juneau and comes from a second-generation commercial fishing family. After 16 years guiding across the state, permits were secured in 2019 to begin offering hunts independently. Experience spans some of Alaska’s most remote regions, including Southeast Alaska, the Brooks Range, Alaska Range, Western Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula, and Kodiak Island. Specializing in fair chase hunts for brown bear, grizzly bear, black bear, Dall sheep, mountain goat, moose, caribou, wolf, and Sitka black-tailed deer, every hunt reflects deep knowledge and respect for the land.
HUNT DETAILS
There is truly nothing like an Alaskan hunt—each day brings a new challenge, especially when pursuing one of the most powerful animals on the planet. With years of experience in some of Alaska’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes, this outfitter offers a world-class hunting journey. Every hunt is carefully planned to ensure safety, enjoyment, and success. Clients receive personalized support both in the field and in camp, with a strong emphasis on excellent service and creating memorable experiences. Hunts are divided into spring and fall seasons, each offering its own distinct adventure.
Spring Hunts
Spring hunts are offered at two primary locations in Southeast Alaska and provide a rare chance to experience the region as it wakes from winter. Snow still lingers in the high country while wildflowers begin to bloom and migratory birds return to the area. Bears emerge from hibernation and can frequently be spotted traveling through estuaries and along seaweed-covered beaches. The landscape is dynamic and full of life, making spring hunts especially memorable.
Fall Hunts
Fall hunts take place from a boat-based camp during the early part of the season. This time of year offers a spectacular view of Southeast Alaska’s changing landscape, as vibrant autumn colors give way to the first signs of winter. It’s a rugged and visually striking time to be in the field. Bears are actively preparing for hibernation, often found feeding in salmon-filled streams or resting along the shoreline. These hunts are both physically demanding and deeply rewarding, with incredible scenery and high wildlife activity.
ACCOMMODATIONS
The lodge offers three oceanfront cabins, connected by a boardwalk to the main lodge and dock. Each cabin provides stunning views of Icy Strait, where bald eagles, sea otters, harbor seals, and humpback whales are often seen. The main lodge is a comfortable gathering space with panoramic views of the Fairweather Range. Each day starts with hearty breakfasts, and lunches are enjoyed in the field. Dinners feature fresh seafood, steaks, and homemade desserts. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol, with ample ice available for storage.
When hunting in Berners Bay, travel is done by flat-bottom skiff along the rivers, with most nights spent aboard a 42-foot Alaskan commercial fishing vessel. The boat features an open back deck for watching the Chilkat Mountains and nearby whales. Inside, guests find a galley, three bunks in the bow, and a cabin with two beds and a heater on the back deck.
