Description
This HFA Endorse Outfitter offers 5 day 6 night private land whitetail deer archery and rifle rut hunts in South Dakota. These are fully guided hunts with lodging and home cooked meals provided. Traditional breakfast, sandwiches and snacks for lunch in the field and home cooked meals for dinner. Hunters will stay in a house with their own room, heated camper trailer or hotel depending on the ranch being hunted.
Archery rut hunts are 5 days 6 nights. Days can be added if there is a guide available. Some of these ranches that are archery only so you don't have to worry about the hunting pressure a rifle hunt may have put on the herds. Archery licenses can be purchased online and mailed (make sure you do this month or two in advance - don’t rely on the mail to get your license in a timely matter) or by going the in to the Game and Fish Office in For Pierre when you arrive.
Archery whitetail hunters will be required to stand hunt only. No getting out and walking around or trying to spot and stalk a whitetail. All you will do is spook the deer and make it harder for the next sit, or worse push mature deer to the neighbors. Traditional spot and stalk methods just don't work when you are trying to maximize your opportunity at a trophy whitetail. Patience will pay off, and this style of hunt can be just as exhilarating when it is time to take your shot. Your guide will drop you off and pick you up accordingly or sit in the stand with you.
Rifle hunts are drawing only hunt. On average it takes 2-3 points to draw. Points can be bought during the fall season for $10 a piece. Buy one for West River Special buck and one for West River Deer. Contact Huntin' Fool's License Application team and they will help you through the draw process. Rifle hunt success rate is 90-100% on deer ranging from 130”-160” with the occasional 180”+. This is a high success, low effort hunt that is great for hunters that are past their prime or mobility impaired.
Private land hunts are a dream of many big game hunters. These high success opportunities take a lot of the frustration out of the hunting experience and allow you to have a more relaxing trip, while still having a trophy to put up when you get home. South Dakota is an excellent state for anyone looking to dip their toes into non-resident hunting and this outfitter would love to take you on an unforgettable hunting experience in this beautiful state.
