ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter runs a small personal operation in some of the most remote, rugged and game-rich country in the lower 48. They guide most clients personally and will be with them during the duration of the hunt. They are fortunate to hunt areas that they know well and strive to offer unparalleled opportunities for solitude and adventure. They take a limited number of clients each year.

HUNT DETAILS:
Archery Hunts:
These archery Elk hunts take place in September during the Elk rut in the steep and rugged mountains of northwest Montana. This is the season that the love crazed bulls become vulnerable to being called into archery range. Hunting this season requires quite a bit of walking, some days more than others. The theory is to keep covering ground until you find a bull that is responsive and susceptible to being called in. There is no other experience like interacting with a bugling bull and watching the huge majestic animal present himself in front of you. Due to the thick cover and rugged mountains, this area is known to produce bulls in the 280-320+ range with potential for bigger.

In September the mountains can still have a health Huckleberry crop. These berries are a black bears main source of food prior to going to sleep for the winter. Hunters that have a black bear tag can shoot a bear during the hunt at NO EXTRA COST.

Rifle Hunts:
The rifle season begins the end of October and runs 5 weeks through Thanksgiving weekend. The fortunate thing about the rifle season in this area is that the Elk and either species of deer are open at the same time in the same area. By this time the Elk rut is pretty much over and bulls are moving off into bachelor groups.

In this area, you will see both Mule Deer and Whitetail Deer. Both species rut close to the same time in the month of November, the Mule Deer earlier than the whitetail, but before close of the season both have hit their peak rut.

It is possible that you may encounter a Wolf or a pack during your hunt. If hunters have a valid Wolf tag in their possession and an opportunity presents itself, they may harvest a wolf at NO EXTRA COST.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodations include comfortable lodging, simple and freeze-dried meals, and the services of a professional hunting guide throughout the duration of your hunt.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Montana allocates elk and deer permits through a combination of random drawings and a preference point system. Non-residents must apply for one of the big game, elk, or deer combination licenses in the general draw in order to apply for special, limited entry deer and/or elk permits. Preference points are issued for the general combination drawings and bonus points will be issued for the special deer and elk drawings. The maximum number of bonus points someone can have going into the draw is 23. Huntin’ Fool’s License Application team will help you apply at the time of application.
