HUNT DETAILS:
Mountain lion hunts in New Mexico are thrilling, adrenaline-filled adventures that take place in rugged, remote country. These hunts are conducted with the help of highly trained hounds that track and tree or bay up lions after following scent trails across canyons, ridges, and rocky slopes. Once a track is found, the chase begins—often requiring hours of hiking, sometimes through snow or steep terrain. Accommodations are typically hotel-based, keeping hunters comfortable between days in the field. With experienced houndsmen and seasoned guides, this hunt offers a true predator pursuit and a chance at one of North America’s most elusive big game animals.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Mountain lion hunts are hotel-based, providing a clean, comfortable place to rest after long days in the field. Accommodations are conveniently located near the hunting area, with all the essentials for a relaxing stay—hot showers, warm beds, and easy access to meals. Breakfast and dinner are typically enjoyed at local restaurants or provided by the outfitter, offering hearty, satisfying food to fuel the hunt. Whether you're coming back from a long hike or an adrenaline-filled chase, you'll have a comfortable base to recharge and prepare for the next day's pursuit.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
New Mexico's big game draw operates on a random selection basis without preference or bonus points. Applications are randomly assigned sequence numbers, and licenses are allocated based on these numbers, with a minimum of 84% of licenses awarded to residents, 10% to non-residents applying with an outfitter, and 6% to non-residents applying without an outfitter. Huntin’ Fool’s License Application team will help you apply at the time of application.
