HUNT DETAILS:
New Mexico Barbary sheep hunts offer an exciting and challenging experience in some of the state’s most rugged desert and canyon country. These spot-and-stalk hunts take place in steep, rocky terrain where sharp eyes and patience are key. With their keen senses and wariness, Barbary sheep (also known as aoudad) present a true test of skill for any hunter. Hunts are typically physically demanding, with long hikes, glassing sessions, and extended stalks over tough ground. Mature rams often sport impressive horns, and opportunities for quality shots are earned through hard work and persistence. It’s a thrilling and rewarding mountain-style hunt.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodations for New Mexico Barbary sheep hunts vary by location. In units 29 and 30, hunters will stay in a well-equipped wall tent camp set up close to prime glassing spots, offering a true backcountry experience with the essentials—warm cots, hearty meals, and a comfortable base to recharge. For multi-unit hunts, accommodations are hotel-based, providing a convenient and comfortable option with easy access to multiple hunting areas. Regardless of the setup, every detail is handled with care to ensure hunters are well-rested, well-fed, and ready to tackle the rugged terrain Barbary sheep call home.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
New Mexico's big game draw operates on a random selection basis without preference or bonus points. Applications are randomly assigned sequence numbers, and licenses are allocated based on these numbers, with a minimum of 84% of licenses awarded to residents, 10% to non-residents applying with an outfitter, and 6% to non-residents applying without an outfitter. Huntin’ Fool’s License Application team will help you apply at the time of application.
