Namibia is the second least densely populated country in the world with only 2.7 inhabitants per square kilometer (7.0/sq. mi). Our trophy hunting season is from 1 February to 30 November every year. The largest part of southern and central Namibia is situated within the Kalahari Desert, a semi-desert landscape with vast savannah and camel thorn tree biomes. The Caprivi, however, is part of a bushveld landscape, which receives a significantly greater amount of precipitation than the rest of the country, averaging around 400 mm (15.7”) per year. Namibian summers (November to April) can be very hot and dry with average day temperatures of 25°C to 38°C (77°F to 100°F) and unpredictable rains. The cooler winter months is ideal for hunting with clear skies and temperatures ranging between 5°C and 27°C (40°F to 82°F). Namibia is the ideal destination for any level of hunter, with ample opportunities to hunt big as well as plains game.
In Namibia, this outfitter offers opportunities to hunt in two different locations. The first of the two is a privately owned operation just North of the capital city. The landscape consists of rocky mountain ranges allowing beautiful vistas over the savanna areas. This operation covers approximately 50,000 acres and is home to more than 30 species of game. Species resident here includes leopard, waterbuck, greater kudu, cape eland, common impala, giraffe, blue and black wildebeest, hartman zebra, oryx, hartebeest, steenbuck, warthog, klipspringer, duiker, sable and brown hyena to mention a few. They subscribe to the principle of fair chase and this is truly paradise for the plains game hunter.
This is an exclusive lodge boasting with 4 en-suite rooms. The farmhouse, situated on a hill, still has the nostalgic historical style of the early 20th century. After a long day’s hunting, one can come back to enjoy the wellness of the infinity pool overlooking the wonderful panoramic views, which lasts up to 150km all the way to the popular Omataku-Mountains on the horizon. And as it gets colder in the evenings, one can get comfortable on the snug sofas in front of the huge fireplace with a nightcap while being entertained by the interesting stories of your guide.
The port of entry is through Hosea Kutako International Airport from where it is about 2.5 hour’s drive.
The second location is a beautiful area consisting of a combination of mountains, hills and grasslands. The rocky Auas mountain range, with a peak of 2479m, create a water rich valley which is home to a variety of game species. The outfitter acquired this unique property in 2022, and is situated an hour’s drive from Hosea Kutako International Airport and Windhoek city. A brand-new luxury hunting lodge was just built in 2024, and it’s ready for clients. At just over 22,000 acres (8,900 hectares), this option offers ample opportunities to hunt leopard, cheetah and excellent specimens of waterbuck, greater kudu, Cape eland, common impala, giraffe, blue and black wildebeest, Hartman zebra, oryx, hartebeest, steenbuck, warthog, klipspringer, duiker and brown hyena to name a few.
This opportunity is a fantastic experience that takes place in a diverse and game-rich environment. The areas are known for their excellent game populations and well-managed hunting concessions. This region is teeming with a variety of plains game species. Hunters can expect to encounter all kinds of species, and the area is famous for large populations of Hartmann’s mountain zebra, as well as rarer species like black-faced impala or damara dik-dik.
These areas are carefully managed to maintain healthy game populations, with habitat conservation playing a crucial role. There are decades of experience, offering skilled professional hunters and experienced local trackers who ensure that your hunt is both successful and ethically conducted.
The landscape varies from rolling savannas and open plains to more rugged, rocky areas and dense thorn-bush. This diversity in terrain makes for an exciting and challenging hunt, requiring a combination of tracking, stalking, and sometimes long-range shooting. The open plains are ideal for spotting game from a distance, while the more wooded or rocky areas offer cover for closer stalks.
Like much of Namibia, there is a strong emphasis on conservation and sustainable hunting. Local landowners and conservancies work together to protect the habitat and wildlife, using the income from hunting to fund conservation initiatives and support the local economy. This ensures that hunting is not only a thrilling adventure but also a means of contributing to the region’s long-term ecological health.
As you move further north, you get closer to Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife reserves. While hunting is not allowed in the park itself, the areas surrounding Etosha benefit from the movement of game in and out of the protected area. This proximity can lead to exciting hunting opportunities, with healthy populations of game animals that thrive in the region.
Beyond the hunt, this northern region of Namibia offers a rich cultural experience and stunning scenery. You may have the chance to interact with local communities or take a break to visit attractions like the Cheetah Conservation Fund near Otjiwarongo or experience the breathtaking landscapes of the Waterberg Plateau. This adds an extra dimension to your hunting adventure, making it a well-rounded and memorable trip.
This outfitter realizes that hunting is not just about getting the trophy one wants, but rather the overall experience. From the second the booking is made to the day your trophies arrive at your home, and everything in between, they truly want to ensure that every client receives the best possible service.
Firearms and Ammunition: Each hunter is allowed to bring two firearms to Namibia with a maximum of 80 rounds of ammunition per firearm. It is legal to hunt with black powder guns and bows for bow-hunting purposes, however crossbows are illegal. Other prohibited firearms include all handguns and all automatic firearms. For plains game, we have learned that any of the .300 calibers work well. If you go smaller than that make sure to bring good (high weight retention) bullets. Should a hunter wish to not bring his/her own rifle on the safari, there are camp rifles and ammunition available for their use at an additional cost.
Permits and Licenses: Each hunter is required, by law, to have a hunting license from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET). The outfitter obtains this on the client’s behalf and the price is included in the total safari cost. An additional, special permit is required for the large cats including leopard, cheetah and lion.
Overall, this opportunity provides an exceptional blend of game diversity, ethical hunting practices, and the opportunity to experience Namibia’s beautiful and varied landscapes with one of the best outfitters in the business.
