ABOUT OUTFITTER;
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter has been outfitting and guiding big game hunters in Montana for over 25 years. Their experienced crew and invites you to come and take advantage of their years of knowledge and experience in getting hunters in front of Montana’s big game. They offer hunts for elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, mountain lion and black bears. Whether you’re looking for a private ranch hunt or a back-country horseback hunt, they can provide you with a great Montana hunt! Their goal as a premier Montana hunting outfitter is to get hunters in front of the game they seek. They are dedicated to provide the best fair chase hunting experience possible. They do this because of their love of the woods, the excitement of getting their hunters in sight of game and the feeling at the end of each season that they helped you succeed in a Montana hunt of a lifetime!

HUNT DETAILS:
During your hunt you will leave camp each day by foot or by horse. The elevation they hunt varies from 6,000 feet to 8,000 feet. It is important that you be in the best possible shape you can as it will increase your odds of being successful. The terrain you will hunt is mountainous with variations of dense timber, open timber, and open meadows.

Archery Elk Hunting:
Archery elk hunting is done during the elk rut in September to early October. The proven hunting methods they use are setting up and calling in big bulls and also stand hunting active wallows. Bow hunters can expect shots ranging from 20 to 60 yards.

Rifle Elk Hunting:
Rifle elk hunting starts the last week of October and they hunt until the middle of November. Their successful methods for big bulls while rifle hunting includes glassing the open meadows during prime feeding times. Spot and stalk, and still hunting the open timber. Shooting distances for rifle hunters can vary from 100 to 500 yards with shots averaging 250 yards.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Along with their Back-Country elk hunt camps in the proposed Great Burn Wilderness on the LoLo National Forest, they also have camps located on the Beaverhead Deer lodge National Forest in the Big hole valley of Western Montana. This area is known to have one of the largest concentrations of elk in the state! They have permits to one hundred square miles of prime elk hunting habitat in this forest.

Gentle horses and mules are used to access camps in these areas as there are no motorized vehicles permitted. Camps are set up as comfortable as their forest service permit allows. Main camps are set up to accommodate 4 to 6 hunters at one time. They generally include wall tents for sleeping, equipped with wood stoves, flooring, lantern and cots. A separate wall tent for cooking and eating in provides hunters a warm comfortable place to enjoy our home cooked meals. Spike camps are set up to accommodate 2 hunters at one time and generally consist of one large wall tent equipped with wood stove, flooring, cots, lantern and an area to prepare meals.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Montana allocates elk and deer permits through a combination of random drawings and a preference point system. Non-residents must apply for one of the big game, elk, or deer combination licenses in the general draw in order to apply for special, limited entry deer and/or elk permits. Preference points are issued for the general combination drawings and bonus points will be issued for the special deer and elk drawings.
