As the only registered guide physically present in this area year-round, they can provide you with a truly unique Alaskan adventure. They are a licensed and experienced professional that has been hunting this area their entire life.
This is an 6 night/5 day hunt that is fully guided and outfitted lodge-based Sitka Blacktail Deer hunt in Southeast Alaska using heated closed-cabin boats and spot and stalk methods. Their hunts are lodge based, so there will be no camping in a wet tent, and no sleeping on a cramped boat! Their guests will enjoy warm meals provided morning and evening. Their own bedroom and bathroom, access to wi-fi and laundry services.
These hunts take place during the fall rut/breeding season. The majority of the hunting is a spot-and-stalk style approach using vessel’s/boats to navigate the area. The rut for Sitka Black-tailed Deer begins at the end of October, and runs through the entire month of November.
Deer hunting will involve easy to moderate hiking. This will be done either on the shoreline, forested areas, or in the muskeg. Muskeg is open/sparsely wooded areas that deer frequently cross during the rut. They will leave the lodge every morning around 8am, and return between 4pm-5pm.
Once you have arrived on your commercial flight, your float plane flight to and from their lodge is included in the price. They provide all the housing, meals, wi-fi, and laundry services. All of the hunting is done from the lodge, so there will be no camping and no sleeping on a boat.
Breakfast and dinner is provided everyday for their guest(s), and their lunches will be packed to go. Their guests will always have their own private room, bathroom, and access to laundry services.
The weather during the rut can vary greatly. Expect the conditions to range from clear and warm, to 30 degrees and snowing.
Be prepared for both dry and wet conditions, and come ready to enjoy the views and the hunt.
