ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-endorsed outfitter operates in the heart of Idaho’s Frank Church Wilderness, offering hunting opportunities in Units 27 and 27-4 of the Middle Fork Zone, as well as Unit 28 in the Salmon Zone. They have two primary wilderness hunting areas, accessible only by fly-in, along with a frontage ranch that borders the wilderness. The airstrips used are remote backcountry strips, ensuring a truly rugged experience.

From both locations, clients embark on a 3-4 hour ride deeper into the wilderness, where camps are strategically set up. Physical fitness is a key factor in overall success, as the Frank Church Wilderness is known for its steep and rugged terrain. Hunters should be prepared for significant physical activity, including horseback riding and extensive hiking.

This outfitter caters to a range of interests, offering summer activities, a packer/guide school, and a variety of hunts, including elk, deer, sheep, bear, mountain lion, and wolf. They provide both 1:1 and 2:1 guided hunts, all conducted on a fair chase basis with experienced guides who are passionate about the hunt. Clients can choose from single-species hunts or combination hunts for a truly immersive backcountry experience.

HUNT DETAILS:
This outfitter offers high-country trophy mule deer hunts, often combined with elk hunts, providing hunters with excellent opportunities for a successful harvest. Deer season runs from September through December, with both archery and rifle options available. Hunting areas include Unit 27 for regular deer, Unit 1155 for controlled late-season deer in the Middle Fork Zone, and Unit 21 for regular deer in the Salmon Zone. Late-season hunts are particularly favorable for those seeking a trophy buck. These late season hunts are a great time to harvest a trophy buck as well. Holding out for a mature buck is always suggested by the outfitter.

In December, the general archery season allows hunters to pursue either-sex elk and deer while the animals are on their winter range, increasing opportunities for success. The outfitter boasts an impressive success rate, averaging 70% for elk and 80% for deer. Among harvested elk, 85% are 5x5s or better, while 65% of harvested deer score 170 points or higher. With experienced guides and prime hunting locations, this outfitter provides an exceptional backcountry hunting experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Most hunts are based out of a wall tent, with a few select hunts operating from private cabins. Regardless of accommodations, the outfitter ensures clients are comfortable and well cared for. Meals are freshly prepared by a cook or guide, providing hearty, nutritious food to keep hunters energized for long days in the mountains. Whether staying in a remote tent camp or a cozy cabin, hunters can expect a well-organized, enjoyable experience with the necessary comforts to focus on their adventure. The outfitter prioritizes quality service, ensuring every client is well-fed, rested, and ready for the challenges of the hunt.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
Deer and elk tags become available for purchase when sales open in early December of the preceding year. If clients are unable to secure a tag through the online system, outfitter-allocated tags can be obtained directly through the outfitter, though the number of these tags is limited each year. Tags for wolf, bear, and mountain lions can be purchased over-the-counter or online before the hunt.
