ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter has been immersed in his family’s outfitting business since childhood. He started with a .22 and his dog, moved on to wrangling by 13, and earned his guide’s license at 18. For the past 15 years, he has successfully guided in British Columbia and Alberta. Along side his wife who grew up on a cattle farm outside Fort St. John, where she developed a strong work ethic and a passion for animals. She pursued a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She continues to apply her skills to the horses they raise for sale and their mountain horse string. For six years, This duo operated a successful Mule deer, whitetail, and elk outfitting business in southern Alberta. After selling their operation, they returned to northern BC to purchase the family run outfitting business. They are excited to be back in the mountains, raising their family in the lifestyle they cherish.
HUNT DETAILS:
Mountain goats are the most abundant species in this outfitters area, providing hunters with a great opportunity to harvest a trophy animal. These goats grow as large as coastal goats but are typically hunted in more pleasant conditions, without the challenges of Devil’s Club or the constant rain and fog of the coast. They range in size from 9-11", with several exceeding 50” each year, and some even reaching the mid-50s. The best time to hunt for optimal weather is mid-to-late August, while after mid-September offers the best hair quality. Goat hunting is strenuous and requires hunters to be in good physical condition. Those seeking a large billy should be prepared to pass on smaller ones, as big trophies often require patience. While shooting nannies is legal, the outfitter encourages hunters to focus on billy goats to support sustainable hunting practices. For hunters who may not be able to hike long distances, the outfitter provides several areas accessible by horseback, ensuring all hunters have the opportunity to pursue these incredible animals in some of the most breathtaking terrain.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
This is a challenging backpack hunt requiring physical endurance and mental toughness. Hunters should be prepared for rugged terrain, long hikes, and overnight stays in mountain tents. Accommodations will be minimal, but they will provide ample high-energy meals to keep you fueled for the hunt.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Licenses, Misc. Gov. Fees, Tag(s) and Taxes will be included in your hunt cost
