ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter in Idaho’s remote wilderness offers true backcountry big game hunts in one of the most rugged areas in the Lower 48. Access is by small plane into a backcountry airstrip or via one of several trailheads, followed by a horseback ride into their comfortable base camps. Camps feature wall tents with wood stoves, a full cook tent, and experienced staff to ensure a comfortable and efficient wilderness hunt.
This outfitter will assist you with everything from gear lists and tag applications to travel logistics, including small-plane flights and meat or trophy transport. Bring the right gear, a steady aim, and a good attitude—they'll take care of the rest and ensure you have the backcountry hunt of a lifetime.
HUNT DETAILS:
This endorsed outfitter specializes in guided bighorn sheep hunts deep in the remote backcountry of Idaho, within a 275-square-mile permitted area where they are the only licensed outfitter. This rugged wilderness is among the most remote and untouched sheep country in North America, offering a true once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for serious hunters.
Hunts begin with horseback travel into fully equipped base camps, followed by backpacking into high-country spike camps to access remote basins and ridgelines where mature rams are found. The outfitter employs a spot-and-stalk approach, and every hunt is fully guided and tailored to each hunter’s physical ability, goals, and expectations. Spiking out is often necessary to reduce travel time and increase time spent in prime sheep habitat.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Hunts begin with horseback travel into fully outfitted wilderness base camps, complete with wall tents, wood stoves, hearty meals, and experienced staff. From there, we backpack into lightweight spike camps strategically located in prime sheep country. While base camps offer full amenities, meals in spike camps are typically freeze-dried and focused on efficiency to keep us light and mobile in the high country.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Bighorn sheep tags in Idaho are issued through a lottery-style controlled hunt drawing. Applications must be submitted to Idaho Fish and Game by April 30th each year. These are once-in-a-lifetime tags, and careful application strategy is essential. Huntin’ Fool is available to assist with the application process, ensuring your paperwork is submitted correctly and on time.
