Description

The Huntin' Fool team has been working with this outfitter since the late 90's and when it comes to Oregon hunting, they're one of the best there is! This outfitter is a Northeastern Oregon based outfitting business located in the heart of big game hunting paradise. They spend a significant amount of time in the famed “Hells Canyon Recreational Area” which is North America’s deepest river gorge.  This outfitter is a diverse group of hard-core hunters specializing in multiple species in the state of Oregon. These species include sheep, mountain goats, mule deer, elk and antelope. They pride themselves on being prepared and providing successful hunts for all 5 big game species. They strive for nothing less than 100% success and they provide a full-service experience.

Mule deer is one of this outfitter’s passions! This outfitter owns, leases and manages thousands of acres in Oregon’s finest mule deer habitat combined with top tier genetics. Their deer hunts are centered on quality, and they take a limited number of hunters each year in order to ensure top end bucks. They consistently produce results and their trophy galley is the proof in the pudding.

They offer archery, and rifle mule deer hunts. Their archery hunt is primarily spot and stalk which makes for some intense moments. Their target dates are the last week of August and first week of September as the bucks are typically still in their summer groups and more pattern-able. Patterns kill big deer! Their rifle deer hunt typically opens around October 1st.  As always, mature bucks are more secluded this time of year which makes spot and stock the preferred method.  By the time rifle season opens, we have spent countless hours scouting the country and typically have a good idea of their buck inventory.

Lookout Mountain – At this time they are not accepting reservations for their Unit 64 private land hunts.  They are booked through the 2027 season.  If you would like to be added to their waiting list, we can let them know so just give us a call and we’ll take care of that for you! They will keep us and/or you updated as opportunities open up.

When it comes to the Oregon statewide tags and Premium Tags, they have these pretty nailed down! Every year they find themselves traveling the eastern part of the state hunting through late fall.  Whether it’s with an early season or late season tag holder, scouring the winter ranges videoing or shed hunting, they are always looking for deer.  If you have an interest in this outfitter’s services for a premium hunt like this, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can make this connection.

One of the keys to their success is preseason scouting. They take pride in knowing every inch of their hunting areas/units and they feel it’s extremely critical to their success, and they state that consistent trophy success is obtained by their complete preparation. Their hunts take place on both private and public lands as they operate under long term private land leases and special use permits provided by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and US Forest Service (FS). Hunting multiple areas within Oregon and Idaho provides a diversified landscape, which also allows them to tailor hunts for each hunter’s ability. They limit the number of clients on all of their hunts in order to control the quality of each experience. In addition, their private hunting leases are on a long-term basis which allows them to control predators and monitor the annual harvest ratios for each species. As a result of their management practices, they have an influence on the age class of their animals.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) manages wildlife units with a controlled hunt draw system. Oregon includes a preference point system for deer, elk and antelope. A good portion of their premium hunts take several years to draw and, in most cases, are “once in a lifetime” tags. The responsibility of providing “once in a lifetime” hunts is what drives them, and their goal is to maximize the potential of each tag and strive for top end trophy success. They have combined their passion for harvesting the biggest / most mature animals possible with their drive to be the best in their business. With those goals, they treat every hunt as if it were their own and do everything possible to turn the odds of success in each hunter’s favor.
