HUNT DETAILS:
Hunting the Dagestan Tur is a classic spot-and-stalk mountain hunt requiring significant endurance and preparation. Spike camps are utilized extensively to minimize the strain of vertical ascents and to focus efforts in remote trophy-rich areas. This unique opportunity to pursue the Dagestan Tur in the remote mountains of North Ossetia and Dagestan promises a true adventure for the seasoned mountain hunter and a trophy worthy of global recognition. This hunt is offered in two Russian republics: North Ossetia and Dagestan, both located in the rugged terrain of the Caucasus Mountains.

In Dagestan, horses are used to access fly camps, but the final approach is done on foot and may involve steep climbing in rough, high-altitude terrain. Physical fitness is critical to success, and hunters should be prepared for challenging conditions and elevations.

Tur hunting ranks among the most physically demanding and rewarding mountain hunts. The Dagestan (Eastern) Tur, known for its distinctive, smooth, and rounded horns—more curved than those of other Tur species—is a unique and highly coveted trophy. It qualifies for both the Ovis and Capra World Slams, making it a prestigious addition to any hunter’s achievements.

Hunters begin their journey by flying into Moscow, where they are greeted by a local team for customs assistance and hotel transfer. The next day includes a two-hour domestic flight depending on the specific hunting area.

The hunting season runs from August 1 to November 30, offering ample opportunity across late summer and autumn.

Weather is generally clear and sunny, with intermittent fog and rain showers. August: Daytime: 77–80°F (25–27°C), Nighttime: 50–57°F (10–14°C), September–October: Daytime: 50–59°F (10–15°C), Nighttime: 15–23°F (-9 to -5°C)
