Description
ABOUT OUTFITTER:
We have been working with this outfitter for over 15 years and haven't had a single complain yet. He runs a great operation across the board and clients continue to return year after year. He offers hunts all over the state of Texas and parts of New Mexico. They offer many different hunts in Texas and New Mexico, with the majority of all big game hunting conducted on private ranches, leased for a specific hunt or species.
He has been in the business since 1984, is a member of Safari Club International, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a former South-East Director of the New Mexico Council of Outfitters and Guides.
HUNT DETAILS:
This Texas Mule Deer hunt will take place in West Texas, near Alpine. Make your flight arrangements into El Paso or Midland Texas, and the drive time from either city is about 2 ½ hours.
Texas offers some great opportunities and this specific hunt is on private, low-fence land consisting of 150,000 acres, going from what is considered antelope habitat to rough steep canyons suitable for Aoudad sheep.
All mule deer hunts are booked are one guide per two hunters, unless a one-on-one hunt is requested, at additional cost.
Ground cover ranges from cedars to live oaks to typical desert habitat. Hunter success is high near 100% on mature bucks; this outfitter only takes 4 mule deer off this ranch per-year. The terrain is part of the Chihuahuan Desert and is primarily high desert in terms of vegetation and climate. It's very similar to Texas Antelope country, consisting of rolling hills and plains, combined with a landscape of mesas and relatively flat topography.
This hunt offers the hunter the opportunity for a combination hunt as well. Javelina, hogs and varmints are all part of the hunt package, and the option to hunt free-range Scimitar Horned Oryx with an over-the-counter tag is also on the table.
The Scimitar Horned Oryx in this region of Texas were introduced into the wild approximately 20 years ago. The herd today has grown to over 250 strong, and are managed for trophy hunting, harvesting controlled numbers each year.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Lodging is a comfortable ranch house, equipped with 3 separate bedrooms all with queen-size beds. Meals are home-cooked and there have been no complaints to date.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Your License can be purchased over the counter and the outfitter will pick it up for you in advance of your hunt.
With no draw necessary for these hunts, last-minute hunts can be put together very easily. All hunts include accommodations, meals, and professional guide/outfitter services.
NO DRAW NECESSARY - GUARANTEED AND OVER-THE-COUNTER!
