Brown Bears in SE Alaska

This outfitter welcomes you to Cordova Alaska where you will find his comfortable lodge to accommodate his hunters both before and after the hunt. After a nights sleep and time to organize gear, you will fly out to camp and conduct your hunt.

Fall hunts in this area concentrate on food, that means salmon streams and berries. Both are in great abundance in this hunt area. Late runs of pinks, silvers, and chums fill the streams each fall pulling the bears down to the rivers to feed. As most of these streams flow through the old growth forests, the bears are often found deep in cover until they expose themselves in the river. This scenario creates close encounters for bear hunters as they creep in on the bears in their natural environment. Bowhunters are welcome to take advantage of this situation and they will be accompanied by a guide that knows bowhunting. Not all of the bears are deep in cover and the outfitter has areas better suited for rifle hunters as well.

The spring hunts are conducted at first green-up with bears seeking their first meals of the season. The bears seek this new growth in the back of secluded bays, and along snow chutes on south facing slopes. With the rut coming into full swing this is a great opportunity for hunters to find an outsized boar pulled out of cover by receptive sows.
