Description
Just hearing the words, Brooks Range, can conjure up memories and dreams from hunters who have been and hunters yet to go. Add in an arctic grizzly bear hunt and you have the recipe for lifelong memories. Hunters will arrive at their jumping off point after they drive or fly from Fairbanks to the airfield in Coldfoot, on the southern edge of the Brooks. From here a charter flight will take you across the divide into the field where your guide is standing by to greet you. Now on the north side of the Brooks Range and well above the arctic circle you are in the heart of the Outfitters exclusive guide use area within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Surrounded by ridges, peaks, rivers, and wildlife, you step off in pursuit of grizzly bears. Unlike many bear hunts that are more stationary relying on patience, this hunt will require the hunter and guide to cover miles in search of a mature bear. With barren ground caribou and Dall sheep scattered throughout the area, your time spent glassing and hiking should result in many memorable sights. Often smaller in size, arctic grizzlies are as tough as they come. With long winters and short growing seasons these incredible animals feed voraciously on any berries and prey they can find to sustain them. A true joy to see and hunt, an arctic grizzly bear hunt in the northern Brooks Range of Alaska should be on every hunter’s bucket list.
Wolf can be harvest free of charge with the proper tag. Caribou can be harvested for $3,500 and sheep may be harvested for $14,500.
