Description

With the northern border approximately 100 air miles from the Yukon border, this outfitter has some of the largest Canadian moose within their concession. They consistently take B&C quality trophies, and with moose gaining popularity with archery hunters, they are taking top P&Y trophies too.

Typically, moose average 55”. The outfitter starts hunting moose on August 15th as an additional animal with their sheep hunts. On August 28th, they start full combination hunts, Moose are in velvet but hard horned. They make an attractive mount, or they can be stripped and your taxidermist will color them to that natural willow burned color.

Accommodations are tent or cabin camps. With 14 or 10-day hunts being an option, you will have the opportunity to harvest your trophy-of-a-lifetime. No more than two hunters are in a hunting camp at one time. All of these hunts are horseback. The outfitter uses sturdy mountain horses that have been ranch raised and trained. Meals will be a combination of Mountain House (dried food) and fresh food. Any special diets will be accommodated to the best of their ability.

During the rut hunts (the last two hunts of September), the weather is cooler and it is an exciting time to hunt moose by calling. This timeframe is the best for archery hunters, and they have been very successful. Once your trophy is down, the work begins. Carefully caping out and getting your trophy field dressed takes time, so expect to spend a day or two doing this.
