Description

ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA Endorsed Outfitter operates in the Yukon Territory, where outfitters enjoy exclusive hunting concessions with no overlapping boundaries. Uniquely, this outfitter's area has no road access, either on the boundary or within the concession. While this poses logistical challenges requiring all materials, supplies, clients, and guides to be flown in and out, it also enhances the hunting experience. The remote nature of the area ensures pristine conditions and an unparalleled opportunity for clients seeking a truly rugged and untouched hunting adventure. This exclusivity and commitment to the experience make this outfitter a top choice for hunters in the Yukon.

HUNT DETAILS:
This outfitter operates on a strict self-imposed sheep quota to maintain high success rates and quality rams, offering a 12-day sheep hunt that ensures ample time on the mountain. With this extended hunt, there’s flexibility for weather delays or rest days, giving hunters plenty of opportunities to harvest a trophy ram.

The maximum elevation reaches 7,000 feet, with treeline around 4,500 feet, making this a moderate elevation hunt. Similar to Bighorn Sheep, Stone Sheep spend as much time in brushy and timbered areas as they do on open slopes. This hunt requires patience and endurance, often involving extensive glassing to locate sheep hidden in rocks and brush at lower elevations. Their horseback Stone Sheep hunts are combo hunts, allowing hunters to pursue additional species like Alaska/Yukon moose, mountain caribou, grizzly and black bear, wolf, and wolverine. The best time for combo hunts is late August when antlered game is typically hard-horned.

The horseback hunts start and end at base camps accessed by wheeled aircraft. Horses are used to access treeline, after which the hunter and guide set up a spike camp for the hunt. If a targeted ram isn’t found, the horses are brought back to relocate. For backpack hunts, hunters are flown into remote areas and carry only the essentials for a more rugged experience. These hunts include a guide and assistant guide to assist with logistics, finding rams, and packing out the trophy.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
This outfitter maintains over 20 established horse and boat camps throughout their area. Guests can enjoy the rustic comfort of returning to a cozy cabin each night, complete with a wood fire for warmth, limited power from a generator, and a foam mattress on a sturdy wooden bed frame. While simple, these cabins provide essential amenities, with most featuring a shower house and an outhouse for convenience. On most sheep hunts, clients will spike out in mountain style tents for 3-4 days at a time, with a mix of freeze-dried meals and minimal fresh foods flown in at the start of your hunt. Camps are designed to provide a dry and efficient base for your Yukon adventure, ensuring you have the energy and comfort needed to focus on the hunt.

LICENSE INFORMATION:
The outfitter will provide all tags as part of the hunt. However, a Yukon Big Game hunting license must be purchased online at least one month before the hunt begins.
