Description
ABOUT OUTFITTER:
This HFA-endorsed outfitter brings over 15 years of experience operating in a truly remote 3,300-square-mile concession—one of Canada’s premier hunting areas. With 95% of the territory seeing little to no resident hunting pressure and no riverboat access, the land remains wild, pristine, and virtually untouched. Access is strictly by floatplane or horse pack train, preserving the area's raw wilderness character.
The territory includes nearly 70 lakes (many offering excellent fishing), one floatplane-accessible river, and multiple well-established camps. All moose and mountain caribou hunts are conducted on horseback, and hunters are always placed in areas where both species are present—though some locations favor one over the other. Mid-hunt relocations are common and made at the guide’s discretion based on game movement. Hunters are encouraged to trust their guide’s judgment and instincts.
Game animals in the area are often curious around horses, creating up-close encounters. Hunts typically involve glassing from elevated vantage points and stalking once game is located. Caribou tend to roam open flats, while moose prefer meadow edges and dense willow thickets.
This concession is renowned for producing high-quality Canadian Moose and Mountain Caribou, with solid opportunities for Stone Sheep and Rocky Mountain Goats as well. Sightings of wolves, wolverines, and the occasional black bear are also possible. Elevations range from 2,000 to 5,000 feet at valley floors, with rugged peaks reaching up to 9,000 feet.
HUNT DETAILS:
Canadian Moose in this area consistently average over 50 inches, with impressive palmation and brow tines. Record-class bulls are harvested annually. Early-season hunts in late August and early September are productive, but the peak rut—mid to late September into early October—offers the best opportunity for calling in mature bulls.
Moose hunts are conducted both by boat on lakes and rivers or on horseback into more remote terrain. The season opens in mid to late August. There is no quota or antler size restriction, but the outfitter strongly encourages hunters to pursue only mature bulls. Hunters booking a horseback moose hunt in September or October are advised to carry a Mountain Caribou tag as well.
This region is home to one of British Columbia’s healthiest Mountain Caribou populations. In August, caribou are scattered and usually found high on ridges. By mid to late September, they begin to group up and descend to lower plateaus.
To be legal in this concession, a caribou must have either 6 top points or 5 top points with 1 back point. The season opens in mid-August and continues into the fall.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Upon arrival at the designated meeting location, clients are greeted by the outfitter’s team and prepped for travel into the concession via floatplane or vehicle. Comfortable base camp accommodations and hearty meals are provided throughout the hunt.
The outfitter’s experienced crew of guides, wranglers, and support staff return season after season. Their professionalism, strong work ethic, and dedication to client satisfaction are evident in every aspect of the operation. Most camps consist of cozy cabins or traditional wall tents, offering a true wilderness experience with all the essentials.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
These hunts are fully guided and all-inclusive. Necessary tags and licenses will be provided by the outfitter upon arrival—no need to secure them in advance.
