Alaska Backcountry Trapline Tour

This HFA Endorsed Outfitter offers a truly unique Alaskan experience! Trapline tours will take you into the Alaskan back country in pursuit of several fur-bearing species. Between the two areas these trips are offered, Wolves, wolverine, and marten are abundant, with fox and lynx residing in the area as well. Potential lies for catching beavers as well as otter on the remote river systems. Any moose or caribou sheds you find along the way are yours to keep during the course of your stay.

Your adventure begins by departing from Birchwood Airport, in a small bush-plane, heading out to the roadless middle and west side of the Alaska Range mountains. Landing at one of two cabins, you and your guide, will settle in and prepare to check and set traps by snow machine and potentially snowshoes on the many miles of rivers and overland trails where forbearers reside. Hearty meals to start and end the days in Rustic log cabins or potentially tent camps with woodstoves for heat provide a comfortable oasis from the winters chill. After a couple days you will again take to the air, checking traps from the airplane en route to a second trapline cabin to embark on the trails in a new area, exploring the country and running the traplines.At the end of the trip will be a last flight back to the east side of the Alaska Range and town where your adventure will come to a close.
