Description
The Mountain Goat population in Alaska is strong with healthy populations of mature billies throughout South Central, Southeast, and Kodiak. This outfitters has ground squarely in the middle of one of the most productive regions of the sate. With Forest Service permits in the Chugach National Forest and Cordova Ranger Districts, hunters can expect to hunt remote areas that see very little pressure.
Southcentral hunters will get picked up in Anchorage and driven to Chitna where the jet boat will be waiting. Your Outfitter has extensive experience running the river and both the drive and boat ride should be enjoyed. Upon arriving in base camp, hunters will settle in to the heated, 10x10 tent complete with cot. Once gear is stowed and packs are ready, you will depart for spike camp when a weather window allows travel. Once up top, you will be glassing for 9-10" billies in accessible terrain.
Cordova hunters will fly directly to Cordova where they will catch a bush flight to the field. This remote country near the lower Copper River has limited access and excellent genetics. With later season dates, this hunt produces big, long-haired billies.
If you have interest in brown or black bear, both locations present good odds to complete a goat/bear combo.
