The Inside Track

February 2025
I love this time of year in our Huntin’ Fool office! The energy of the team and our members is literally palpable as we move into full swing on hunt applications and planning for the upcoming year. One of the things that truly sets us apart from the noise in the “hunting advice” realm is that you can talk to a real person who has your best interests in mind. For over 25 years, we’ve been committed to advising our members based on real data and firsthand knowledge. Our Hunt Advisors spend hundreds of hours each year researching and talking to members who have hunted in the areas you want to hunt, outfitters who guide in those areas, wildlife biologists who oversee the wildlife, and in many cases, even putting their own boots on the ground in those areas. This wealth of experience ensures that you’re not just getting opinions, you’re getting practical advice tailored to your unique hunting goals.

Being able to call in and talk to our team of Hunt Advisors is a huge asset, and we encourage you to use this resource wisely. Because we field thousands of calls each year, we can’t always be “on demand.” Instead, your call will be picked up by one of our friendly customer service teammates who will ask important questions to connect you with the perfect Hunt Advisor. This process also gives the Advisor time to prepare for your call and make the most of your valuable time.

For the best results, here are some tips to maximize your consultation experience:

1. Be Prepared to Take Notes: Have your questions written down with plenty of space to jot down notes as your Advisor walks you through their answers.

2. Use Maps and Tools: If you’re seeking specific location guidance, have a paper map ready or, better yet, be logged into onXmaps. This ensures you’re able to follow along with the Advisor’s guidance in real time.

3. Plan Ahead: Don’t wait until the last minute to call. While we do our best to assist with emergencies, calls made well before application deadlines or your hunt date allow us to provide the most thorough and thoughtful guidance.

4. Ask Follow-Up Questions: As new thoughts or questions arise during the conversation, don’t hesitate to ask for clarification or additional insights. Our Advisors are here to help.

While we can’t always tell you which rock to stand on to shoot your deer this fall, we can certainly help you plan your hunt, provide guidance on gear and equipment, assist with logistics, and teach you how to approach your hunt strategically. Often, this process enhances or refines the plans you already have, and it frequently adds valuable options to your game plan. Flexibility and adaptability are often the keys to success in the field, and we’re here to help you prepare for the variables – from hunting pressure to weather conditions and everything in between.

We’re excited to assist you in planning every aspect of your hunt – from choosing the right tags to booking outfitters, selecting gear, and strategizing for your time in the field. Our experienced team of Hunt Advisors is what sets us apart from the noise of other voices out there. We’re not here for fame or fortune; we’re here for you. Experience the Huntin’ Fool difference when you talk to our Hunt Advisors!

From all of us here at Huntin’ Fool, we wish you the best of luck in your efforts to put tags in your pockets, meat in the freezer, and antlers on the wall. We’re honored and blessed to help you on that journey!
