Colorado Elk | Thanks to Huntin' Fool!
We have had wonderful success with the help from the staff at Huntin’ Fool! Huntin’ Fool is at its best for information on hunts, guide help, services, Advisors, and hunting applications.
We joined through a friend over 24 years ago. I’m 79 years young, and my wife, Katie (62), and I have enjoyed the great outdoors in all the western states, B.C., and Alaska with family and friends with the help of HF.
This year, after 19 years of points, they helped me find an elk hunt in Colorado that my wife and I could do on our own. Huntin’ Fool put me in for area 76, and I was lucky to get the tag! I called Huntin’ Fool to find out more information and was able to get contact with their members who wanted to share information about their experience in that area. Through emails and many calls, we received so much information that we packed up and went, ready for the adventure to come, and what an adventure it was!
We found sheep, deer, moose, wonderful people, super old mines, and waterfalls. On the third day, we finally caught the elk herd on the hillside close to the road. We saw a beautiful 6x6, 285”+ bull. It was all thanks to the information from Huntin’ Fool and the members who were so helpful.
In so many years with Huntin’ Fool, we have had so much help, including knowledge about outfitters, bonus points, and members’ phone numbers and information. We couldn’t have accomplished all the pleasures of the outdoors without them.
We have been lucky enough to have three Boone and Crockett record book animals entered into the book and some in the California book. These include Arizona sheep, New Mexico deer, and California Tule elk. I also credit Huntin’ Fool with them providing the information to complete a Roosevelt elk hunt when I was at total points in California. It was a successful and exciting hunt.
Katie and I have also added our names to the Previous Tag Holder List. This has helped people in our Wyoming area.
Every year, we try to add a new person to the magazine, to help them understand how to find the best information and have a possibility to draw a lifetime hunt.
A very special “thank you” to the Huntin’ Application Department, especially Shantel McArthur, Melissa Williams, Garth Jenson, and Logan Hedges. We thank you for helping us donate and raise funds for habitat, veterans, local youth, and so much more. It takes us all!
Thank you also to all the veterans who took care of us and keep us free. We are so thankful!
