The Modframe™ is a purpose-built foundation for serious alpine hunters who demand performance, durability, and flexibility in their pack systems. Built leaner, stronger, and more customizable than ever before, it offers new levels of fit, comfort, and load control, and it’s fully compatible with every pack, bag, and accessory in the Hunt EMOD™ system.
“As someone who’s run just about every major pack brand on the market, I’ve come to know exactly what I like – and what I don’t – in a hunting pack. My journey with Eberlestock started with the original Dragonfly. It was my first serious pack for multiday hunts, and at the time, it did the job well. One thing I’ve always respected about Eberlestock is their top-tier build quality – no compromises there. However, over time, I found myself leaning toward packs that shaved a bit of weight and included features like a meat shelf between the frame and bag, which just fit my style of hunting better.
That’s why I was initially hesitant about the new Eberlestock Modframe system. I’d already dialed in a few setups from other brands that I truly loved, and frankly, I didn’t feel a pressing need to switch. That changed when I attended the Summit hosted by Huntin’ Fool out in Idaho. There, I got my hands on the Modframe paired with one of the Brooks series bags, and that was the turning point.
Right away, the weight savings grabbed my attention. It felt noticeably lighter than some of Eberlestock’s older models I’d used. Then I started adjusting the frame and noticed how intuitive the setup was. The new load lifters and the simplicity of the Brooks bag design hit a sweet spot between functionality and streamlined performance. I decided I had to give it a real test.
I started loading it up and doing weighted hikes to prep for the season. The very first thing that stood out? Adjustability. I was able to dial in the shoulder straps without a hassle, and removing the bag to just run the load shelf was fast and easy. The strap attachment points on the frame allowed me to secure various load sizes without fighting the pack, whether it was training weight or real-world meat loads.
The load sling system is another win. It let me position the weight exactly where it needed to be on my back, and that makes a big difference when you’re climbing elevation with 50+ pounds. And speaking of comfort, the adjustable lumbar pad was spot-on for my frame. That weight didn’t sag or shift mid-hike, and that’s a rare thing, especially with heavier hauls.
Then came the real test – deep in caribou country, pack loaded down with meat. That’s when the Modframe really earned its keep. My shoulders held up, no pressure points, no hot spots. That’s saying something. Normally, I’d expect to feel it in my traps or get that familiar shoulder fatigue. Not this time.
To put it plainly, the new Eberlestock Modframe paired with the lightweight, yet rugged Brooks bags has taken the brand into a new class of hunting packs. They’ve managed to deliver the weight savings and modular features modern backcountry hunters demand, without giving up the durability and bombproof construction that Eberlestock has always been known for. If you’ve written off Eberlestock in the past due to weight or adjustability concerns, it’s time to take another look. This system is the real deal.” – Garth Jenson, Hunt Advisor
